Chiropractors are all asked one question more than any other, “is this going to hurt?”

It really varies from person to person.

Chiropractic adjustments should never hurt. Everything we do here is perfectly safe. We make sure we do things the right way and make sure that no one is in pain after their adjustment.

With that being said, if someone’s never been adjusted or it’s been a long time since their last adjustment, it feels like going to the gym for the first time.

I’m trying to put proper motion back into the spine and make the joints work properly again. Those muscles and those joints just haven’t moved that way in a long time, it is common to have a little soreness afterwards.

Not every patient is going to have that soreness but it’s something that I always tell my patients about.

We’re making joints and muscles work that may not have worked properly in a long time, so a little bit of soreness is normal and expected.

I recommend to treat any soreness with a little bit of ice, and that soreness will go away pretty quickly.

Soreness is not something that the patient will have after every adjustment, it’s just as the body gets used to working properly again, that eventually goes away as everything starts working the way it’s supposed to again.
